African Wildlife Rehabilitation
Volunteer in Namibia at an African wildlife sanctuary and contribute to conservation. by caring for orphaned and injured animals. Through these activities you will be able to work with and get to know many of Africa’s wildlife species. The sanctuary is uniquely situated on a large game ranch where other animals roam freely. Experience the life of a typical African farm and share your adventure with other volunteers.

This project enables volunteers to help injured, orphaned and threatened animals of Africa and thereby contribute to conservation. It also is a wonderful opportunity to experience the African wilderness.
Thursday - Arrival in Namibia
Volunteers from abroad must schedule their flight to arrive in Windhoek, Namibia on a Thursday.
Friday - Transport to Wildlife Sanctuary
Volunteers will be picked up at their place of stay in Windhoek between 8:00am and 9:00am to be transported to the wildlife sanctuary. The sanctuary lies approximately a 3½ hours drive east of Windhoek. Accommodation at the sanctuary includes shared rooms with shared bathrooms, a cafeteria with a magnificent view over a waterhole, and a splash pool. An orientation session will be held where the layout of the camp, meals, washing facilities, water heaters, and general camp rules will be explained.
Volunteer Program
Volunteers arrive at the wildlife sanctuary on Fridays and depart on Thursdays. Volunteers have to stay a minimum of two weeks. The volunteer project is not fixed and depends on the animals present and their needs. The general project activities include:
- Preparation of feed and feeding of animals
- Monitoring and interaction with animals
- Patrolling and cleaning of enclosures
- Bush walks
- Patrols on the game ranch
- Sleep-outs
- Performing maintenance work
Departure
Volunteers are transported back to Windhoek on a Thursday and dropped off at the international airport or in Windhoek at about lunch time.
Note: Please do not book an AM return flight.
Extended Volunteering
Volunteers may choose to stay up to 3 months. The program is repeated every two weeks as new volunteer groups arrive.
Volunteer Requirements
Volunteers must be between 18 and 40 years old.
Pre-trip Arrangements
Volunteers are required to book their own flights and buy their own travel insurance. Eko Tracks can assist you or arrange a work visa, transportation from the airport to Windhoek and one night’s accommodation in a backpackers lodge prior to your departure.

How to Book
- Any person between the age of 18 and 40 years is encouraged to apply.
- There is no specific booking date, but please read the payment policy under "Price and Payments".
- You can select any dates (minimum of 2 weeks) starting on a Friday and ending on a Thursday.
- Please complete the Booking Form electronically and send, mail or fax it to the office of Eko Tracks.
- Once we have received your booking form you will be pre-booked on the project and be sent a confirmation letter.
- After receiving the deposit, your place on the project is secured.
- You will be sent an application form for a work visa which has to be returned to the office of Eko Tracks at least 2 months prior to the start of the project.
Note: Volunteers have to be in possession of a work visa before being allowed into the country.
- Eko Tracks will also send you a tour dossier with information about the passport, flight schedules, vaccinations, airport shuttles, accommodation, and a packing list to assist you in preparing for the trip.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations shall only be valid if received and approved in writing.
