As we drive along the sandy track, our eyes drift intently across the savanna landscape in search of animals. Today may be our lucky day to spot an elusive predator. As we scan the countryside, a herd of zebra appears. The thought ‘nothing special’, flits through our mind, ‘we have seen zebra before’. But wait, they were running and milling around seeming alarmed. Is there a predator lurking somewhere? The vehicle stops and everybody looks intently. "There is no lion here," our guide informs us, "it is a stallion chasing one of the females back to his family group." That's interesting. How did he know that? Well, the guide from Eko Tracks is a wildlife ecologist with an intimate knowledge of wildlife behavior and years of experience in conservation.
