Day 1 |
Cape Town to Cape Agulhas
Depart from your city hotel and follow the coastal road to the village of Hermanus, where sheltered bays are home to the Southern Right whale in calving season (July to November). After looking for these wonderful mammals we continue to Cape Agulhas - the southern-most tip of Africa - where we overnight. (BD) |
Day 2 |
Cape Agulhas to Oudtshoorn
Today we move inland to Swellendam and into the semi-desert area of the Little Karoo with its wealth of Anglo-Boer war history and its sheep farms, to Oudtshoorn - ostrich capital of the world. We visit an ostrich farm before checking into your hotel for overnight. (B) |
Day 3 |
Oudtshoorn to Knsyna via Wilderness
This morning we go down into the Cango Caves, before stopping at a crocodile ranch. We then navigate the Outeniqua Pass and continue back to the coast, past the beach at Wilderness and its inter-locking lakes to Knysna, where an optional lagoon cruise is available before checking into your hotel. Day 4 |
In the Land of Lakes and Lagoons
Full day to explore the Knysna - Plettenberg Bay area. Perhaps take ride on the narrow gauge steam train which hugs the coast and crosses lagoons and bays, or enjoy oysters and champagne at the Knysna waterfront. Overnight again in your hotel. (BD) |
Day 5 |
Knysna, via the Forests to Port Elizabeth
After breakfast we drive through Nature’s Valley to the Tsitsikamma Forest – home of the mighty yellowood trees. Here we enjoy a tractor-drawn wagon ride through the forests with a picnic lunch before driving a short distance to Port Elizabeth, the windy city, where the tour ends. |
This tour can also be reversed culminating in Cape Town.
